1. Unplug power cord and cable from printer only.

Another way, anticipating monsoon outages and surges, is System Restore:

  1. Start>All programs>Accessories>System tools>System restore>
  2. Select "restore my computer to an earlier time">Next
  3. Click on date when your printer was working fine>Next
  4. Save changes, close programs>Next
  5. Restart computer, following instructions

If that doesn't work,

1. Find your printer software CD.
2. Unplug cable from printer. (Software instructions will usually tell you this.)
3. Go to start > new programs > click on printer program > click on "uninstall software". Follow instructions. If this works, go to step 6.
4. If there is no "uninstall" software option, then
5. Go to start > control panel > add/remove programs > click on your printer program > click "change/remove".
6. Insert printer software CD into computer drawer. Follow instructions.
